Pulau Nipe or Koh lipe
Koh Lipe is an island in the South Andaman Sea which describe as a true paradise or Maldives in Thailand because of the white sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters. The name lipe derived from the word Nipeh in bahasa melayu means thin. Koh Lipe is home to a community of so called ‘Chao Lay or Sea Gypsies Urak Lawoi’, an ocean-going minority people believed to have lived along this east Andaman coast for millennium. Most of them are fisherman and their still live in Koh Lipe in traditional way such as their home construction with the local wood and use palm leaf or tin for the roof. They believe in the spirit and still conduct a boat floating ceremony or Plajat Festival which is the most important ceremony, takes place twice a year on the full moon of the fifth and eleventh months. Most visitors will see these deeply tanned, rugged boatmen briefly when arriving and departing the island, for the Chao-lay have been given a monopoly on the long tail boat services moving tourists between the beach and the offshore pontoons. It provided them a basic living. The true paradise or “Maldives” of Thailand is available all year around. The tourists can travel to Koh Lipe by the public ferry from Pak Bara pier, Satun province.

Pattaya Beach is an absolutely stunning large sheltered beach with powdery white sand and the most popular beach in Koh Lipe. Most of the ferry services arrive here and it provides easy access to the bars and restaurants on the Walking Street. The name Pattaya derived from the word ‘Pantaidaya’ in bahasa melayu.
Sunrise Beach is a long strip of white sand bordering a wide shallow beach on the Eastern side of the island, is where you can watch the sunrise. It is protected from the monsoon in low season and enjoys refreshing breezes in high-season.
